Built in 1994, see photos. 60 km south-east from Zürich, with a train running every hour (58 minutes from Zürich main station to Näfels-Glarus), 20 minutes walking from the station to the house.

There are more than a dozen small alpin lakes which you can reach in a daily excursion (walking/biking) from our house. The lakes of „Obersee“, „Klöntal“ and „Garichti“ can be reached by public transportation.
The lake of „Walensee“ is reached by walking/biking (flat) for 6 km north-east.
The lake of Zürich is 30 minutes by train.
The lake of Constance is a hour and have drive by car or by train away.
Freulerpalast: Museum des Landes Glarus in Näfels (20 minutes walking). In a beautiful palace you find a lot about the history of Glarus, its (once) world famous textil industry. Special exhibition every year. Open May-October.
Art museum in Glarus, various museums in Zürich, UNESCO world heritage of the cloister of St. Gallen is an hour and 10 minutes away by train.

If you want to enjoy theater, opera or movies you can attend most evening events without problem as the last train from Zürich HB to Näfels-Mollis leave at 23.12 (23.38 evenings fr/sa and sa/su).
There are 5 skiing possibilites within easy reach:
Skilift schilt, one installation, 1200-1500 m. 20 minutes by car (there is a small bus service running). If there is a lot of snow one can descend with skiing down to the valley till you are about 200 m from our house
Elm, 30“ by car (or train/bus)
Braunwald, 30“ by car or train, then one has to take a special train to go up
Amden, 30“ by car
Flumserberg, 30“ by car
From a leisurely 30 minute walk or bike everything is possible up to very strenous multi-day excursions either with almost no up and downs for 100 km or (for trained alpinists) up to the Tödi (3620 m).
There are a few proposals (including maps, text in German only) to be found under for the villageor for the whole canton. We have at your disposition quite a few maps (often specialised for walking or biking/mountain biking) of the region and many parts of Switzerland.
